Mentors from the Brigerland Amateur Radio Club hosted a Girls in Space 10-week workshop with the goal to introduce amateur radio and STEM to girls ages 11-17.

The result was 16 girls who participated in many hands-on activities including, soldering, Arduino programming,  interfacing sensors, APRS, talking on HF and VHF/UHF frequencies, and working amateur radio satellites.

The activity culminated in a weather balloon launch, and payload recovery.  They launched

the balloon in Howell Utah and recovered it near Montpelier Idaho.    More than 15 mentors from the club participated.  The club will repeat the project in 2023 with a mixed group of boys and girls. The project was funded by a grant from ARDC.
