We would like to introduce you to ARRL member Mike White K7ULS of Eden, Utah.
Mike began his journey into ham radio in 2008 and, during his time on the air as “only” a Technician class ham, has bagged a long list of on-air accomplishments that would make even long-time Extra class hams proud. Among them: DXCC (mixed, phone, CW, and single band 10-meters) 243 confirmed and 248 worked! Worked All States, VUCC (790 grids on 6 meters), Worked All Continents (basic and 144 MHz digital). He is the only Technician to achieve Fred Fish Memorial Award (FFMA) on 6 meters. The FFMA was created in honor of Fred Fish, W5FF (SK), who was the first amateur to have worked and confirmed all 488 Maidenhead grid squares in the 48 contiguous United States on 6 Meters. The award is given to any amateur who can duplicate W5FF’s accomplishment.
He also achieved Worked All Zones which took 15 years. He has achieved numerous first place rankings in ARRL and CQ contests and is also active on 2-meter moonbounce (EME).
You will oftentimes find Mike in the field, taking to the airwaves from remote locations like Utah’s Powder Mountain with his hitch-mounted stacked 10, 6, 2, and/or 70-cm yagis, sometimes even configured for EME. To get a glimpse of his well-deserved accomplishments and neat photography of his field operations, please visit both his QRZ page at

Mike proves that license class is hardly a limit to the fun one can have as a ham radio operator. Thanks Mike, and keep up the great work!
We would like to spotlight hams who are participating in or promoting the seemingly endless fun and magic of ham radio. If you know someone who would like to be (or should be) highlighted, please contact Scott Rosenbush, K7HSR, Public Information Coordinator, Utah Section ARRL – k7hsr@arrl.net.
